Tottenham Hotspur are awaiting an update on Ivan Perisic after the player limped out of Croatia’s Euro 2024 qualifier win in Turkey on Tuesday night.
Perisic went to ground in the 87th minute at the Bursa Timsah Arena – the home of Bursaspor – clutching his calf before being replaced by Luka Ivanusec in stoppage time.
The 34-year-old will now return to North London for further assessment, and Spurs fans fear they are facing an injury crisis at left-wing back.
Ben Davies was forced to withdraw from the Wales squad after sustaining a hamstring in the 3-3 draw at Southampton. He’s set to be out for around six weeks.
Spurs, who sacked manager Antonio Conte last week, also lost Emerson Royal to a knee injury whilst he represented Brazil on Saturday.
Tottenham hope to have club captain Hugo Lloris and Ryan Sessegnon back in the coming weeks, though remain without several key players including Rodrigo Bentacur and Yves Bissouma, who are sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Newcastle United, who sit two points behind fourth place Spurs in the Premier League table with two games in-hand, face Manchester United, West Ham United, Brentford and Aston Villa before hosting the North London outfit in a potential Champions League qualification decider at St James’ Park on April 23.
Following Conte’s sacking, Tottenham have put Cristian Stellini in caretaker charge for the rest of the campaign with Ryan Mason as his assistant.
