Report: Chelsea will launch move to sign ‘world-class’ forward once their new owners are finally in place

Chelsea will reportedly step up their efforts to sign Paulo Dybala after Roman Abramovich’s successor is officially installed.

According to 90min, Dybala could be seriously approached by the Blues once the takeover of the club has been completed.

Chelsea’s hands are tied right now

Until Abramovich is replaced, no new players can arrive at Stamford Bridge, meaning all plans for the summer are currently on hold.

Not ones to be quiet in the transfer market, Chelsea at this time of year would usually be compiling a list of possible acquisitions.

However, based on the current scenario, the Champions League holders may have to trim the candidates down rather dramatically.

They have already apparently lost out in the race for Leeds United attacker Raphinha and Chicago Fire’s young goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.

Yet, the search for a new owner is drawing closer to its conclusion, meaning those already stationed in South West London can start to consider singings once again.

It seems Dybala has caught the eye of Chelsea’s hierarchy for one reason or another.

Dybala is up for grabs

The 28-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, having rejected Juventus’ latest offer.

He is set to leave the Serie A side as a free agent, causing a swirl of excitement around the footballing landscape.

Despite his troubles in the past few years, the Argentine international still possesses the talents to be a strong addition to most teams.

This term might not have been the attacker’s finest, but he has managed 13 goals and six assists so far across an injury riddled campaign.

Admittedly, Dybala’s prime is probably behind him now.

In 2017/18, he scored 26 times for Juve as he collected the Italian league and cup double, and was described as then teammate Blaise Matuidi as ‘world class’.

Fast forward slightly and he earned the title of Serie A’s MVP for 2019/20.

But this isn’t to say Dybala is done and dusted, so watch this space Chelsea fans.
