Real Madrid ready £50m bid for Arsenal star

Real Madrid are interested in a £50m summer move for Kieran Tierney, according to a report.

The Sunday Post report that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is determined to ensure the club make a move for Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney this summer, and they’re preparing a £50m bid.

Ancelotti previously tried to sign Tierney for Napoli in 2019, but he lost out to Arsenal. A “glowing report” from Real chief scout Juni Calafat has now reportedly revived his interest.

The same outlet claims Arsenal would be unlikely to block a move for the right price, with Barcelona also keen on the signing.

These rumours aren’t new, with AS reporting the same thing in early March, and El Espanol also linking Tierney with a move to Madrid in February.

It’s probably nothing to worry about for Arsenal fans just yet. Tierney is on a long contract in North London, with no senior player tied down for longer than the left-back’s deal to 2026.

Arsenal would presumably only consider a sale if they had a top replacement lined up.

The Scottish international is a starter, he’s approaching his prime years, and he’s even regularly talked about as a future Arsenal captain.

Given he extended his deal when things were quite a bit bleaker than they are now, it’s also fair to assume Tierney doesn’t feel unsettled at Arsenal.

If he’s not forcing a move and his contract gives the club another four years of control over his future, even £50m may not be enough.
