Pedro Porro sends one-word message to Sporting after knocking Arsenal out of Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has been left blown away after seeing Pedro Goncalves’ stunning goal for Sporting against Arsenal.

If any Tottenham player was hoping for an Arsenal defeat to Sporting in the Europa League tonight, it was probably Porro.

The Spanish wing back left Sporting for Tottenham on deadline day in January and still loves the Portuguese club.

Porro was photographed with Sporting players and staff in their London hotel this week, reuniting some six weeks since leaving.

Seeing his old pals again will have been great for Porro, and you couldn’t blame him for wanting to get involved in the celebrations tonight…

Many were backing Arsenal to come through this tie and advance into the last eight of the Europa League.

A 2-2 draw in Lisbon last week meant Arsenal had home advantage for the second leg, so the Gunners were heavy favourites.

Granit Xhaka’s first-half goal had Arsenal 1-0 up and heading through before a quite stunning equaliser.

Pedro Goncalves picked up the ball on the halfway and launched a remarkable strike over Aaron Ramsdale and into the net.

Sporting fans were sent wild but that was just a rehearsal for even bigger celebrations later in the night.

Sporting took the game to extra time and ended up winning on penalties with Antonio Adan saving from Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal are out, Sporting are through and Pedro Porro is absolutely loving it.

Porro took to Twitter to tweet just three words after the Goncalves wondergoal, posting ‘what a goal’ alongside a heart-eyes emoji.

After the shootout win, Porro added another message for Sporting, tweeting ‘Parabens’ – which translates to ‘congratulations’ in English.

Porro accompanied that message with a host of green love heart emojis, showing that he still loves Sporting – and his new Tottenham allegiance only made tonight even sweeter.
