Whether it’s a permanent move or a loan, Pape Matar Sarr is probably about to leave Tottenham Hotspur in some capacity.
Sarr joined Spurs a few months before Antonio Conte arrived in 2021, during Nuno Espirito Santo’s reign as manager.
But the 20-year-old – who returned to North London last summer following a season-long loan – is struggling for regular football in his first full campaign as a Tottenham player.
The Senegal international played against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago but his absence was notable earlier today.
Conte’s side won 3-0 away to Preston North End in the FA Cup.
Given that this was a Championship opposition, many Tottenham supporters would’ve expected Sarr to be in the first XI – and definitely the squad.
But he was omitted from both and that, in essence, is probably an indication that he’ll be leaving North London.
Conte has already labelled him a ‘top player’ [Spurs Play] earlier this calendar year and that suggests that the Italian manager is an admirer of the youngster.
But if he was staying at Tottenham, he absolutely would’ve been included today and with no mumblings of an injury, his absence is more than likely related to a transfer of some description.
Still only 20, Sarr has a bright future in football and hopefully for the Lilywhites, he enjoys many happy years at Hotspur Way.
