Antonio Conte watched his Tottenham side crash out of the Champions League last night as Mauricio Pochettino chants rang out from the fans.
It felt like a defining night in the Italian’s tenure, as Spurs missed out on their final chance of silverware this season without even putting up a fight.
The Daily Mail believe Conte and Tottenham are set to part ways when his contract expires at the end of the season, and coincidentally, a manager Daniel Levy wanted before the 53-year-old is now available.
Well, we are by no means suggesting he would be a good replacement for Conte, but Scott Parker – who the Mirror claimed Levy was interested in before hiring the Italian – is now available.
It was said that the 42-year-old was on Levy’s shortlist alongside Paulo Fonseca before Conte was chosen to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.
Parker was sacked by Bournemouth back in August – just four games into the Premier League season – before surprisingly landing the manager’s job at Champions League outfit Club Brugge.
However, the Englishman was sacked on Wednesday after suffering a 5-1 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League Round of 16.
In total, Parker won just two of his 12 games in charge of the Belgian giants.
POCHETTINO SHOULD REPLACE CONTE AT TOTTENHAM
Despite the fact Parker loves Spurs – having shone in his 63 appearances for Tottenham – Pochettino is the man to replace Conte.
Levy has to get the fans onside with his next appointment after making three errors in the appointments of José Mourinho, Nuno and Conte.
Pochettino, in that respect, would be a wise choice as he remains a fan favourite at Tottenham, while he is also an impressive coach as well.
The Athletic believe the Argentine and those in the boardroom at Tottenham are open to a reunion, so make sure to keep an eye on the situation.
