Man Utd news: Erik ten Hag’s scathing review as Harry Maguire replacement eyed

Erik ten Hag previously sent Manchester United a scathing review of their treatment of midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek earned his way onto the 30man Ballon d’Or shortlist while playing under Ten Hag at Ajax. His fine form in Holland earned him a blockbuster move to Manchester United, but things haven’t quite worked out for him at Old Trafford and he’s now out on loan with Everton until the end of the season.

And Ten Hag was left upset at how the midfielder was treated at United, where the Dutch coach had an interview to potentially become the club’s next manager this week. It comes as reports suggest United have offered a ‘double-your-money’ offer to a centre-back who could be Harry Maguire’s relacement.

And after being called up to the Argentina national side, United wonderkid Alejandro Garnach has had his say on playing alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United wonderkid Alejandro Garnach has met up with the Argentina national side and trained alongside Lionel Messi for the first time.

Argentina moved quickly to tie Garnach, 17, to their national team with the youngster also able to represent Spain after being born in Madrid to a Spanish father and Argentinian mother. The young United ace is now in the unique position of having already trained alongside boh Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and his comments following his latest training session appear to show exactly which of the two Garnach idolises.

Ten Hag’s scathing review

Erik ten Hag accused Manchester United of committing a “mortal sin” with their treatment of former Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

The Ajax manager has become the favourite to take the reigns at Old Trafford this summer following a “positive” interview with United chiefs earlier in the week. Ten Hag’s arrival could breathe new life into Van de Beek’s United career after the two enjoyed a highly productive spell together in Holland.

But Ten Hag was previously left angered at the opportunities Van de Beek found once he got to Old Trafford.

Maguire replacement eyed

Manchester United could reportedly double Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo’s wages in a bid to persuade him to join the Old Trafford outfit.

The Uruguayan is said to be viewed as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire in United’s backline, with the Red Devils captain struggling for consistency this season. And with United set to embark upon an extensive overhaul of their squad in the upcoming transfer window, Araujo is reportedly being eyed by the club as a potential target.

The defender’s contract with Barca is set to expire at the end of next season, meaning United could have a bargain on their hands.
