Man United have one eye on Robert Lewandowski and his Bayern Munich contract situation.
It’s fair to say that this season, the problem has been scoring goals. For far too many games, our expensive front line has displayed many inconsistencies. Those simply have to be addressed if we’re serious about challenging for major honours going forward.
There’s every chance Manchester United may well lose Cristiano Ronaldo, too, particularly if there’s no Champions League football on offer for the Greatest of All Time.
That may mean as well as hunting for a new manager, a new top-class striker may be high on the priority list of the Old Trafford club. Enter, Robert Lewandowski.
Rumours have been swirling, suggesting United could be keen on signing the excellent Pole. Now, those have been confirmed by Christian Falk, who tweeted the news early this morning.
Indeed, he says United are interested in signing the prolific striker, who is arguably the greatest forward in the world right now. The Reds are waiting to pounce in case Lewandowski and Bayern Munich cannot come to terms on a new contract.
As we all know, Lewandowski has scored goals galore over the last few years, slightly improving his overall game year-on-year. Couple that with the slow demise of both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and we could well be talking about the best player on the planet.
He’s a figurehead for a ruthless Bayern side who score goals galore week-in-week-out and it’d be an absolute dream to have him leading the line at Old Trafford.
However, questions have to be asked about his age and whether United would be repeating the mistakes of old. Lewandowski is 33, how long can he stay at this elite level for? We saw something similar unfold with Edinson Cavani over the last twelve months or so. He’d look super sharp last season but this time around, he seems to have fallen off pretty considerably.
That said, It’d be extremely difficult for anyone to pass up on the opportunity to sign Robert Lewandowski.
