Liverpool ‘interested’ in €50m man – Reds could complete signing for less than €40m

Carlos Soler’s long-term future at Valencia needs to be sorted out while he continues to draw attention from Barcelona, Liverpool and a few other clubs.

Earlier this week, AS reported the Catalan club and Los Ches reached an agreement for the 25-year-old’s transfer. However, these claims were quickly dismissed by Valencia.

Xavi Hernández’s side continued to be named as a potential destination and they are now joined by Liverpool.

Sport on Thursday states Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany is the ‘great supporter’ of the player’s signing for the Blaugrana. The Barcelona chief knows the Spaniard well, from his time at the Mestalla.

Apart from Barcelona, there are ‘other interested teams’ in Soler and they are Liverpool, Atlético Madrid and Juventus.

Soler is Valencia’s captain, and the newspaper states he is ‘upset’ with his manager, José Bordalás. His current deal runs down in 2023 and it includes a €50m release clause.

Despite all this, Los Ches have made a proposal that includes a net salary of €2.8m per year, to renew his contract. The Spain international could sign an extension, ‘out of love for Valencia’, but this would also ‘open the exit door for him’.

If Soler were to renew the contract, then Sport state the price would be €40m ‘since Valencia are obliged to sell’ him.
