Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa feels that he deserves to start Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Liverpool, according to a report in the Sun.
The Spaniard has played in every previous round of the competition, and also had an extended spell in goal through January with Edouard Mendy at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However when Mendy returned to rejoin Chelsea after the Club World Cup semi final, he was slotted right into the team for the final.
Kepa can feel a little hard done by on that, but on the other hand it was Mendy’s outstanding performances in the Champions League that got his team there in the first place.
This competition is different – Kepa has played the previous rounds, and we’re pretty sure that will mean Thomas Tuchel plays him against Liverpool. It’s only fair, and thankfully the stopper has been in good form, so the manager won’t feel he’s being dangerously sentimental.
