CITY TO HAND £125K-P/W CONTRACT TO ‘OUTSTANDING’ STAR LOVED BY GARY NEVILLE

Manchester City are set to award midfield star Rodri with a new contract which will see the Spanish international’s wage increase massively following an impressive season.

According to the Daily Star, the 25-year-old is in line to be handed a deal worth £125,000-a-week, an increase of over 60% in Rodri’s current weekly wage of £70,000 as Pep Guardiola’s side continue to reward those who have performed well this campaign.

As per the report, City have been on a warpath in recent months to tie down key players to new contracts to secure their long-term futures, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Ruben Dias just a handful of names to have signed fresh deals this season.

And City aren’t planning on stopping at Rodri, with Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan also set to sign new contracts at the club. Yet as per the report, Raheem Sterling is unlikely to join Rodri and company in penning new deals with the reigning Premier League champions.

The Sky Sports pundit lauded the midfielder as ‘outstanding’ earlier in the season after Rodri’s performance against Liverpool, and now, City look set to reward the former Atletico Madrid maestro with a huge pay rise.

An ever-present in City’s XI this season, Rodri has been key to the Manchester giant’s success over the past few years, and signing a new contract is massive for the club’s long-term future.

After all, Rodri is one of the best deep-lying midfielders in the Premier League and deserves a pay rise after another amazing season with City, and tying him down long-term is a huge result for Guardiola’s side.
