peaking on La Porteria, journalist Alfredo Martinez has claimed that Barcelona are planning to make three defensive signings in the summer transfer window.
A pivotal window awaits Barça as they look to build a team capable of overthrowing Real Madrid from their perch and re-establishing themselves as the top team in Spain and Europe.
Several incomings are expected in the coming months, with the Catalans having already struck deals to sign Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie on Bosman deals.
While it is no secret that the Blaugrana have been pushing to add a quality striker to their ranks. the defensive region also needs attention in the upcoming summer.
And, Alfredo Martinez has now claimed that it is not lost on the club, who are planning to make three defensive signings ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
With Christensen believed to be arriving, it is not specified if the three signings will be in addition to the Dane or including him. But his signing will add more depth to the centre-back department, especially with Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet expected to leave.
A new left-back to cover for and compete with Jordi Alba is a necessity, with another Chelsea defender in Marcos Alonso emerging as a target.
A new right-back would also be a welcome addition at Camp Nou, considering that there is not a lot of clarity surrounding the futures of both Dani Alves and Sergino Dest.
Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has been a target for a while now and his signing would add depth at right-back and centre-back given his versatility. The Spaniard, along with his teammate Alonso, are both believed to be keen on a move to Camp Nou.
Someone like Lisandro Martinez of Ajax would also be a shrewd purchase considering that he can play at centre-back and left-back.
It remains to be seen who Barcelona decide to go after, but there is no denying that the summer transfer window will have a huge say in how the upcoming season goes for Xavi Hernandez & co.
