As per the latest reports from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero via his Twitch channel, Barcelona have reached a breakthrough in negotiations regarding Pablo Gavi’s contract negotiations.
The promising young midfielder has broken out as one of the team’s key players with his tenacity and ability on the ball in tight spaces. As a result, the Catalans have been keen to renew him as soon as possible.
Now, Romero says that Barcelona are very optimistic about Gavi’s renewal, and believe that the negotiations are at a very advanced stage. There should be no complications from here on out.
Xavi considers Gavi and Ronald Araujo as cornerstones of this new project under his tenure and is keen on confirming their renewals as soon as possible.
Gavi has also drawn interest from several top clubs across Europe, many of which are reportedly willing to trigger his current 50 million euro release clause. While Barcelona were adamant that he will be renewed.
Despite several statements that negotiations were on track, there seemed to be a halt for a while, presumably because Barcelona were focusing on their winter transfer business.
The La Masia prospect does finally seem close to securing his future with the Blaugrana. His extension being finalised would be big boost for the club, which is also working on several other renewals simultaneously.
