Arsenal close to securing £21m windfall as Gunners handed major Ruben Neves transfer blow

Arsenal are pushing for Champions League qualification this season.

Their most recent Premier League victory came at the Emirates on Sunday, where the Gunners emerged 2-0 winners over Leicester. The victory leaves the north London outfit in fourth place, one point ahead of Manchester United, who have played three more league fixtures. They are now preparing to host Liverpool on Wednesday night, as they look to strengthen their chances of winning the race for top four.

Regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen in the summer, primarily in the central forward and midfield areas.

Fiorentina are extremely happy with the Uruguayan and a deal is expected to be completed. Romano tweeted on Monday: “Fiorentina are more than happy with Lucas Torreira. Talks on to reach an agreement on permanent deal with Arsenal – there’s €15million (£12.6million) buy option clause included in loan deal. Arsenal are open to let him go, it’d mean €25million-€26million (£21million-£21.8million) from Torreira-Fiorentina and Guendouzi-OM deals.”

Arsenal target Ruiz favours a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona. However, if neither move comes to fruition, he would reportedly happily wind up at the Emirates Standard

Barcelona are looking at Wolves star Neves as a potential long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets. Neves’s agent is the well-known Jorge Mendes, who reportedly has a good relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. Arsenal have been linked with the Portuguese midfielder for some time, but he may be interested in joining Xavi’s project in Catalonia.
